Amsterdam, The Netherlands. May 7, 2018: Ipos Technology has won the KPMG International Game Changers Start- Up Competition. The Award was announced and presented at the Sports Analytics Conference, which was held in the Johan Cruijf Arena in Amsterdam.
Over the course of a full day, the conference highlighted all the positive benefits that sport technology has to offer athletes through three parallel tracks. A great deal of sensor technology is focused on football/soccer.
"It was my first conference in many years, at which I didn't know anyone, compared to the Java and Scala conferences that I often attend. And I had not expected there to be so many companies already active with sports and tech," said Joost den Boer, Ipos Technology's Lead Developer. "It was great to see that Dutch companies are apparently very good in this too. We were impressed by companies like SciSports, Sense and Johan Sports."
At the event, Bernadet van Os, Technology Expert of the Dutch Olympic Committee* Dutch Sports Federation (NOC*NSF), reflected on how data helped athletes in preparation for the 2016 Olympic Games. She also presented the plans for 2020 and made an open invitation to all technology developers and new businesses to showcase their products at a demonstration day held on June 18 in Arnhem, The Netherlands. This was provisionally targeted at inspiring companies to develop their technologies ahead of the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo, Japan (as planned at the time (pre-COVID-19 pandemic).
